Health Care Transparency Act (IMA 11)

Hi all!  Well, the new legislative season will be involving ISHA again.  Seems like even when we try to keep a low profile things just rise up and grab us:)  On the easy side, a rule change to the licensure law will help streamline the licensing of SLP’s, Aud’s, and Hearing aid dealers and fitters by recognizing their licenses from other states.  It’s pretty standard stuff so we don’t expect any opposition from the legislature on this one.

On the down side, the Idaho Medical Association (IMA) has introduced a proposal that will limit the use of the designator ‘Dr’ for anyone who is not a medical doctor.  The punishment for violating the rule would be determined by the licensing board, but the implication would be removal of the license.  Seems harsh to me, kind of like getting life in prison for a traffic violation…

Anyhow, we’ve begin an e-mail campaign to fight the darn thing and encourage you bloggers to weigh in, but be sure to e-mail your legislators first to register your objections.

I’ll keep ya; posted!
